Bur Dubai makes a practical base for Al Fahidi and creek crossings, with Karama nearby for South Asian restaurants. A Dubai Marina hotel instead favours the waterfront and beach districts, which are a substantial distance from the older souks. The Red Line serves airport Terminals 1 and 3, so accommodation near that line can simplify arrival. Terminal 2 needs a road connection; do not choose a hotel transfer on the assumption that every terminal has its own metro platform.

Use the RTA’s Nol system for metro and bus travel, and check the fare zones for longer trips between the creek and Marina. An abra between Bur Dubai and Deira is part of the old-city route, rather than a substitute for a longer sightseeing cruise. Pair Al Fahidi with the Bur Dubai waterfront, then cross to the Gold and Spice Souks. Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa area deserve another block of time instead of a rushed detour between markets. Dubai World Central is a separate airport southwest of the city, not another terminal at Dubai International.
